Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
