The British tennis star secured the biggest success of his professional journey by coming back from a set down to overcome world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the early stage of the prestigious indoor tournament.

Even though he had earlier defeated Alcaraz on two prior meetings, this triumph marks Norrie's maiden win over a sitting world No 1.

The top seed appeared to be advancing smoothly towards victory in the beginning as he cruised past the initial stanza. Nevertheless, Norrie steadily worked himself into contention by delivering with sharper placement and engaging the Spanish opponent into extended, demanding exchanges. Through most of the contest, the world number one performed well on serve but he had difficulty to locate his rhythm with his rally strokes.
