Mohamed Salah Issues Regret to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that the Egyptian forward apologised to the group of players following the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
The manager has refused to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were never meant to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
