Almost 55,000 families have currently been affected by the weather, with their items and temporary homes ruined.

Heavy storms over the past week have compounded the extremely difficult circumstances of the vast number of uprooted Palestinians in the region, as reported by humanitarian organizations.

"Awful" Weather Brings Grave Risks

A official described the weather overnight as "horrendous", with downpours so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"The recent weather was exceptionally difficult for the families. The storms were so intense... And the gales were so powerful," noted the official.

There is extreme anxiety that young ones sheltering in temporary structures in damp garments will contract hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Fatalities and Significant Destruction

The health ministry have reported that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins due to the storms.

Other reports suggest a higher death toll. Officials stated that numerous residential buildings had fully given way and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated shelters inundated.
  • Many people forced to relocate again.

Aid Distribution Deemed Not Enough

Organizations have escalated distribution of tents, warm covers and clothing since the ceasefire commenced, but they have said there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that relief and to hand it out, but the scale of the necessities is so immense that we still have many thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely suffering nightly," warned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Truce Provisions

The subsequent part of the ceasefire involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the removal of military forces, and other provisions.

Humanitarian organizations have stressed the imperative for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to meet immediate and ongoing needs."

The hostilities was sparked by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Following actions have led to a substantial number of lives lost in the territory, according to medical reports.
