The winter transfer window is always a time of significant rumour and possible major moves. Several prominent footballers find themselves linked with moves out of their present clubs. This article explores some of the top figures that could be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the player available, indications are an important transfer is imminent. This 25-year-old has a deal featuring a substantial release clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Recent developments indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his signature. Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield falling through. With his contract due to run out in the close season, this represents the London club's final chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top clubs, including Manchester City and several European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. B. Johnson

The Wales winger has had starting minutes limited at Tottenham this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer last season, he has begun only a handful of league games. Reports suggest the North London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the correct valuation, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

R. Neves

This Portuguese playmaker could be set for a return to the English top flight following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, and with his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he is a possible bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spanish media that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona under the coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and undergone an operation, a January exit looks highly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible destination, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

This prolific England centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his fading hopes of being in the national World Cup. But, arranging a transfer presents significant hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to sell him, and his alleged enormous salary make any agreement complicated. With his existing contract nearing its end, many English clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are desperate to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a battle to retain one of Europe's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is widely tipped to make a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at around £22 million.
